Arkansas forward Marshawn Powell made an eye-opening declaration Tuesday, saying the Razorbacks have lacked leadership all season and he was determined to fill the void as they prepared to play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
A day later, Arkansas coach John Pelphrey tried to downplay the freshman’s strong words.

The Arkansas baseball team couldn’t come up with a series-ending win on Sunday, but the 6-0 loss to California certainly didn’t diminish a pretty impressive week.
Arkansas went 3-1 over the course of the week, beating Kansas 15-3 in a midweek game then going out West to win the series against the Golden Bears. It helped the Razorbacks improve to 8-2 this season and continue to fuel expectations as the Southeastern Conference season gets closer and closer.

Ole Miss’ 72-59 win against LSU on Thursday night helped clear up Arkansas’ route for next week’s SEC Tournament. Kind of.
For now, the top of the SEC West standings look like this: 1. Mississippi State (9-6), 2. Ole Miss (8-7), 3. Arkansas (7-8) and 4. Auburn (6-9). The Razorbacks will enter the regular season finale against Ole Miss in Bud Walton Arena with a chance to finish second, third or fourth in the division.

Though most are loath to admit it, when a losing streak mounts to four, sufficient evidence amasses contrasting "good" losses with "bad" losses. So strictly by that criteria count, Arkansas' 80-73 loss last Wednesday at 16th-ranked Tennessee was a "good loss."

Arkansas coach John Pelphrey wanted his team to get off to a better start after struggling throughout losses to LSU and Vanderbilt.
The Razorbacks accomplished it during its final road game at Tennessee. But it wasn’t enough to help Arkansas put an end to its late-season slide.
Tennessee’ Scotty Hopson scored 15 points and Wayne Chism added 14 to lead the 16th-ranked Volunteers to an 80-73 win against Arkansas in Thompson-Boling Arena.
