Editor note: IRVING, Texas — The temptation is to project a year’s worth of pent-up angst onto one football game.
The Big 12 and the Southeastern Conference were central players in much of the drama that enveloped college football this season, from conference realignment to the BCS championship controversy. The big, bad SEC swiped two of the Big 12’s teams and monopolized the title game at Oklahoma State’s expense, so it would be natural to view Friday’s Cotton Bowl as a chance to settle accounts.
