Editor note: John L. Smith began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Weber State in 1971. After 40 years, the 63-year-old is finally back with the Wildcats.
Smith, the former Arkansas special teams coordinator/outside linebackers coach, was introduced as Weber State’s head coach Tuesday. Smith left Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino’s staff to replace Ron McBride, who retired after seven seasons at the Football Championship Subdivision school — which is also his alma mater.
