The University is already getting ready for the Alabama game. They are expecting it to be as big as a Texas game. Bigger maybe … remember … the stadium is larger now. And … all of Arkansas wants to believe that we can beat Alabama in Fayetteville. How about them Hogs?
If you want to be there when it happens … you’d better get your football tickets and hotel reservation now. Saturday’s performance just added fuel to the fire.
Beating TTU was almost perfect. Opening night jitters were evident. Promise of a bright future was there, too.
Mallet can throw the ball. DJ Williams and Joe Adams and Cobi Hamilton and Greg Childs and … and … can and will catch Mallet’s passes.
DJ is a beast. He’s everywhere … right where you need him. First downs … recovering fumbles … blocking. He’s a record breaking season waiting to happen.
Since everybody knows where Greg Childs is on the field … the rest of the wide receivers will get open. And … while we’re on the subject … how about them yards after the catch numbers?
Let’s not forget Anthony Leon. If all he needed was early success at linebacker to be good … as Petrino contended at the Catfish Hole … Leon’s position move may be a stroke of genius. He’s fast enough to blitz and he’s quite the tackler. 2 … count’em … sacks and 6 solo’s. Not too shabby.
Oh … and what’s with Tejada kicking it consistently into the end zone? Is this what a healthy Tejada can do?
If it’s true that teams make their biggest improvements between the first and second game … ULM is going to be a thumping.
There are still questions:
Are we going to be able to stop the pass rush long enough to allow Mallet to throw the ball?
Is our defense really better than last year’s?
Can our secondary stop those long gainers?
Are we going to continue to be lucky on the injury front?
Just how good is Georgia? Alabama?
Boy howdy … football in Hog heaven is fun. You’ll be hearing about them all week at the grocery store. At the office. At the post office. From your brother.
And the cherry on top ... HDN loses to Jack Crowe.
