Sorry to say ... but it boils down to money. OK ... there are probably a few other things, too.
The economy is down. People -- aka donor -- don't have as muuch.
The storyline on Clark is distrubing. The guys on KNWA essentially said that he was having a culture problem. What the heck does that mean?
I think without big big bucks ... Arkansas would have a hard time attracting somebody really, really good.
So ... hog fans ... put your money where your mouth is. Donate to the Razorback Foundation. |

Agree with Angie....money is the issue. Revenues of the BB program are down vs last year and Long is probably going to put his investment into the FB program as he sees a better ROI with Petrino than JP.
It spells bad times for th BB program as we are stuck.
Re culture and Clarke. I listened to an interview today with Conley Clarke (RC's dad) and learned that RC is religious and does things the right way in his life. The culture of our team this year stunk and I suspect it was of big concern for RC.
He likes Arkansas, his sister likes Arkansas and his folks like Arkansas. I bet that played a role in his decision to stay. I just hope JP becomes a better leader and HC as playing for someone like him would be difficult. In the sense that he is unorganized, allows players to do their "thiing" dong the game and any ole road will do mentality.
Terrible leadership for good players who expect and deserve more. |

How many Razorback fans would give $100 for a new coach? Would you put your money where your mouth is?
20,000 fans putting up $100 each should do it. That shouldn't be all that hard ... there are 100's of thousands of Razorback basketball fans ... aren't ther? |

I want Pel gone as much as anyone....but from what I understand Long wants to save as much money as possible because he's afraid that after this year's football season he will have to pony up a lot of cash to keep Petrino.
I'll be honest....if having to keep Pel means being able to keep Petrino then I'll begrudgingly accept it.

then I will gladly accept that route. I honestly believe thought there is enough money in Razorback nation to make Coach BP happy and run JP all the way back to woods of KY. |

Long is rolling the dice. We will never know how much difference in revenue would actually be next year with our without JP.
There will be some not renewing their tickets, some not giving to the RF and fewer fans attending games in protest. All adds up to less revenue.
With MA as our HC, I believe the support physically and financially would be a lot more and might offset the cost of letting JP go.
There is one point I keep hearing that is disturbing. That Long did not blame JP for the off-the-court issues with or team nor the player losses. And, more or less, gave JP a pass. I sure hope that is not true. |
